Na semana passada, o Blogue ATS contou com a colaboração de Mónica Ribau (ICS-ULisboa), no seu post intitulado “Stranger Thesis: Chicken, Uncertainty and Sisyphus“, em que apresenta uma reflexão aprofundada acerca da relação entre a ciência e a sociedade, e apresenta-nos a sua investigação doutoral. Mónica Ribau é jornalista e doutoranda no Programa Doutoral em Alterações Climáticas e Políticas de Desenvolvimento Sustentável. A sua tese, em desenvolvimento, é intitulada “Comunicação de Ciência: o papel da narrativa na percepção das alterações climáticas”.

“Should scientific discourse be centred on the description of discoveries? Should the role of political discourse be to convince someone to act? Can biophobic truth lead us to a new version of totalitarianism, with the justification that it is necessary to bridge the gap between what is done and what science shows ought to be done – dismissing critical thinking or distinguishing fact from fiction?”
