Madalena Duque dos Santos holds a degree in International Relations from ISCSP-UL and a Master’s Degree in Environmental and Sustainability Studies from ISCTE-IUL, and her dissertation was developed so as to analyze the outlines of the various processes in which the portuguese state celebrated contracts with private enterprises for the prospection and exploitation of hydrocarbonets (between 2007 and 2015), in contrast with the national, european and international commitments of Portugal concerning climate change. This case study analyzes the atribution of these concessions in Algarve’s hydrographic basin, namely in the Tavira region, in light of the current context of escalation and profound alterations in the Earth’s climate.
