Social housing can be a life saviour for low-income households struggling to make ends meet. Increasing social inequalities, more diverse demographic patterns, and changing preferences for big city life challenge the existing housing system. For instance, there is a smaller demand for large-family homes since the proportion of families with children is falling. At the same time, the demand for smaller homes (for one or two persons) is on the rise. What’s more, there are growing regional differences in housing needs across EU Member States. The EU-funded DASH project intends to generate new ideas to promote more sustainable and safe social housing and propose housing products, processes and services.
