The project, conceived and coordinated by the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (FCUL) with the support of ICS-UL and CITIDEP, is an initiative of the European Commission promoted by the European Information Center Jacques Delors (CIEJD), Directorate- European Affairs – Ministry of Foreign Affairs, acting as Intermediary Body responsible for implementing the Communication Plan for information on the European Union in Portugal.
The actions carried out include an opinion study, six debates at a national level (in Aveiro, Lisbon, Olhão, Porto and Sines) and the communication and dissemination of results through the Web and the media.
The aim is to assess the population’s familiarity and opinion on the issues under consideration and to raise awareness of them, giving citizens a voice in the definition of EU priorities and policies.
The topics covered are as follows:
• (Re) industrialization versus sustainable development and green economy;
• Europe 2020 strategy with the objective of sustainable growth for a resource efficient economy and energy sustainability;
• The importance of education about the sea and its resources.
