Luísa Schmidt is a principal investigator at ICS-ULisboa, where she is dedicated to research in Sociology of Communication and Sociology of the Environment, where she has a doctorate. She coordinates the Research Line “Sustainability: Environment, Risk and Space”.
She is part of the team of researchers who created and set up in 1996 OBSERVA – Observatory of Environment and Society, where he develops several research projects that articulate social sciences and environment.

Luísa Schmidt is the coordinator of the UNESCO Working Group for the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development (2005-2014), a member of the National Council for Environment and Sustainable Development (CNADS) and the Working Group EEAC – European Environment and Sustainable Development Advisory Councils. She is part of the Advisory Board of the Gulbenkian Environment Program, FCG – Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian.
She is a regular columnist for the Jornal Expresso on environmental issues. It also integrates the Scientific Commission to PCEEE 2014 – Portugal in Conference for an Energy Efficient Economy.
